Changes in our parish & Deanery

As announced last weekend by Bishop Paul:

• Fr. John Winstanley moves to Christ the Good Shepherd, Workington.

• Fr. Stuart Chapple to be Parish Priest of our Parish of St. Boste

• Fr. Philip Conner moves to St. Begh’s Whitehaven, previously served by the Benedictine’s of Belmont Abbey

Fr. John’s final Masses in our Parish are:

Alston, Saturday 2 May 6pm

Appleby Sunday 3 May 4pm

Penrith Friday 8 May 12 noon and followed by ‘a bit of a do’ in the Haydock Centre. All welcome.

If you would like to give Fr. John a leaving gift as he moves on to Workington there are collection envelopes at the back of each of our churches. Please return them by next Sunday, 3 May. We are also hoping to give him a spiritual bouquet of Rosaries, Masses and other prayers for his intentions - if you would like to pledge a prayer please sign up on the list at the back of each church.

Fr. Chapple’s first Masses in our Parish will be on 9/10 May, Sixth Sunday of Easter. He was ordained priest in 2021 and is currently Assistant Priest at St. John XXIII, Preston.
