Digital Collection plate
From this weekend in the Narthex at St Catherine’s, we will have a new digital card machine for people to use for the offertory collection, donations, shop & candles. As so many people no longer carry cash, this provides an opportunity for people to support the parish financially.
Could I also take this opportunity to encourage those who are UK taxpayers to consider making their offertory/donations gift aided. For every £1 that you give we can claim back 25p from HMRC. The easiest way to do this is via standing order once you have completed and returned the gift aid form found at the back of each church or on the parish website here. Alternatively, the new machine has a gift aid facility.
The gift aid reclaim forms a significant part of our income as a parish, enabling us each year to carry out works that keep our churches in good order. The context to this encouragement is the fact that, several years ago, bank charges were introduced on parish accounts and as such there are significant costs associated with banking cash and cheques.
I am very grateful for your generosity in what each of you gives.
